TAIPEI, TAIWAN — Inventec Corp., Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), and Institute for Information Industry (III) collaborated to build “Taiwan cloud computing internet data center (IDC) total solution” that provided infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and software as a service (SaaS) offering local IDC total solution to the world. Apart from cloud computing Inventec will keep manufacturing smartphone and solar cell at full strengh instead of scrambling to wearables.
The concept of software defined everthing (Sdx) and data center infra management (DCIM) has been bringing changes to information industry, now it's getting into the next stage of intergrating software and hardware altogether.
For example, Acer Inc. once the world's largest laptop maker is now working on a new cloud computing platform, which proven that hardware manufacturers need transforming with a focus on cloud computing services.
Inventec senior adviser George Wang gave positie reviews over Acer's decision. “Acer is a well-known brand, it's more easy to develop cloud computing for them.”
However, Inventec has been the server provider of the IDC total solution project.
There are three stages of soliciting local businesses to be a member of IDC total solution. Firstly, demonstrating IaaS and PaaS to foreign firms, secondly, inviting local information firms to be part of memebers to try on the service, finally, helping local firms to seek partnership in the world, especially in Japan and SEA countries.
Nevertheless, Inventec chairman Richard Lee told reporters that Inventec is conservative on hot trend wearables, “We don't go scrambling to wearables, product positioning does count and had better not only make the hardware, we will cut to the point by applying total solution.”
Apart from cloud computing Inventec will keep manufacturing smartphone and solar cell at full strengh instead of scrambling to wearables.
