ASRock Rack released two new models of server motherboards for Intel Xeon D , D1540D4U-2T2O8R and D1520D4I. Intel Xeon D is the first SoC based on Intel Xeon Processor technology. Compared with its predecessor, the performance is enhanced per node/per watt. ASRock Rack released D1540D4I-2T2O8R in microATX and D1520D4I in miniITX. Except for the big core performance from Xeon D, the new models fully support DDR4 ECC DIMM, max. 128G.
Also, the I/O interface upgrades to support dual 10G ports, PCIe3.0, SATA 3 and USB3.0. The new Xeon D motherboards provide the users to build an optimized infrastructure with high density and a better total cost of ownership (TCO) while the cloud service, telecom service, and hosting datacenter providers are facing the challenge to cope with the fast growing number of users accessing their services.
D1540D4U-2T2O8R uses microATX form factor. With greater storage, it fits in a 1U chassis with 14 trays of 3.5 HDDs for convergence storage serving to handle Web 2.0 warm data. It features 8 cores D1540 processor, 4 DDR4 ECC DIMM slots, capable of handling lightweight hyper-scale workloads. The board has 6*SATA 3 slots and another 8*SAS3 slots from LSI3008 as a decent storage capacity.
It also has double M.2 slots for either OS back-up or extra cache in big data environment. It deploys the 1U or 2U storage server perfectly. The I/O interface supports up to 40G Ethernet controllers, providing the ultimate throughput for large amount of users accessing the datacenter.

For example, D1520D4I is ideal to deploy as micro server nodes in the scalable collocation web service market. It is also an option for mini server users who want to upgrade from the current SoC platform.
