TAIPEI, Taiwan - Underwriters Laboratories' (UL) UL Taiwan Internet of things (IoT) science and technology laboratory in Hsinchu has formally opened. After UL added IoT safety testing services to their laboratories around the world, they expanded their investment in Taiwan and established a comprehensive IoT safety testing center. The laboratory has also obtained a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building certification gold certificate from the United States.
Bureau of Standards Metrology & Inspection (BSMI), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and R.O.C Secretary Liu Ming-zhong were in attendance, and American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Chairman James Moriarty made an opening speech. There were also nearly two hundred VIP witnesses in attendance for the commencement of UL's IoT science and technology testing laboratory.
This IoT science and technology laboratory is aimed at bringing safety and efficiency to IoT. It currently provides testing services for interoperability of wireless communication technologies, radio frequency (RF), specific absorption rate (SAR), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), wireless charging, and UL's cybersecurity assurance program (UL CAP). It will also link into a seamless service network with safety laboratories in Taipei and Linkou.
UL Global Senior Vice President and President of Consumer Affairs Weifang Zhou stated that “UL has decided to establish a world-class IoT laboratory in Taiwan which can provide new IoT professional knowledge first-hand and give global safety development information to local manufacturers.”
