TAIPEI, Taiwan — It is widely circulated that Foxconn is going to cooperate with Xiaomi in delivering notebook. According to an earlier report states that Xiaomi will develop the notebook with ODM partners Inventec and Foxconn Electronics in an attempt to take on Apple’s Macbooks.
Source said that Xiaomi plans to use the same model it used with smartphones for its upcoming notebooks. For instance, launching notebooks with a high price to performance ratio. Moreover, sources from the supply chain have stated that the notebook’s mass production schedule has not yet been confirmed.
However, Foxconn has had a tight relationship with Xiaomi. FIH Mobile Limited, which is a subsidiary of Foxconn that manufactured Xiaomi smartphones.
Meanwhile, GizmoChina had leaked images of what appeared to be a Xiaomi laptop along with the specifications. Addressing it the Xiaomi Notebook, on first glance one couldn’t help but notice the uncanny resemblance to the Apple MacBook Air. As to the specs, this alleged laptop from Xiaomi was to sport a 15-inch full HD display, would be powered by an Intel Core i7-4500U chip and come with two 8GB RAM modules with 16GB RAM.
Xiaomi lately also teamed up with Foxconn in penetrating the Indian market. The Redmi2 Prime will be manufactured by Andhra Pradesh production line in India.
