Asus has launched the lastest module for its PadFone series, PadFone mini 4.3. Not only aiming at the busiest shopping season for Christmas and new year's eve, Asus is also planning to sell 100,000 units in its nine-month life circle.
Asus is always famous and proud for its various portable personal computers' series, but as the grouwing trend in smarphone and tablet, they act fast and strive to provide a series of smartphone in a tablet combo range, known as , PadFone.
The Padfone mini is a 4.3-inch smartphone that comes with a 7-inch tablet dock into which the phone fits, transforming it into a tablet computer.
Costing NT$11,990 (US$405), the Padfone mini 4.3 is a dual-SIM smartphone that sports a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 540 or equal to 256ppi, an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and 16GB of internal storage with microSD card support, plus a 1500 mAh battery.
As to the tablet part, the previous PadFones had 10.1-inch tablets, the newly unveiled PadFone Mini 4.3 has a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and an extra 2200 mAh battery which even lets you recharge the smartphone using the tablet battery.
Taiwan's local brand is no stanger to poor marketing. However, Asus corporate vice president, Benson Lin remarked that the company will do more on the marketing front, which means pouring more money in marketing. For exemple, Asus has jumped on the celebrity endorsement bandwagon and has signed James Hsiao (蕭敬騰) to become the company’s brand ambassador.
Benson Lin also said that Asus will do their best to boost its smarphone shipment to 5 million unis in 2014, which means 2.3 times than as much as that of in 2013.
