TAIPEI, Taiwan — U.S. chip maker Intel demonstrated a number of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in Taipei on Wednesday, It also teamed up with Taiwanese firms Advantech, Elitegroup Computer Systems, and AIC in mapping out its Iot layout that proves Taiwanese firms play important roles in the coming IoT era. IoT Gateway will be the most crucial component according to Advantech.
Intel held the “Intel IoT Asia” forum. Richard Dwyer, Intel Vice President and General Manager of its Worldwide Embedded Sales Group, opened the event by outlining the top three essentials for realizing IoT layout in Asia, namely, the innovation in vertical industries, integrated end-to-end vision, and partnership with the ecosystem.
Taiwanese firms have no doubt play important rols in the Intel IoT Asia layout.
Richard Dwyer forcast the importance of adopting an open and scalable platform that enables developers to innovate and accelerate IoT implementation.
He Chun-sheng, General Manager of Advantech, said that the business opportunity is happening, and the most important key component is gateway with the view that there will be more than 80 percent of the IoT facilities management go WiFi, which needs gateway to connect and manage.
Lin Guo-wen, Chairperson of Elitegroup Computer Systems, pointed out that they adapted the Intel Quark processor to develop the smart building sysytem in a bid to focus smart management and save energy.
