TAIPEI, Taiwan — HTC unveiled an action camera RE in New York on Wednesday that allow users to create photos and videos more easily. RE takes 16MP images, 1080p/30fps video, 4x slow-motion 720p video and time-lapse recording, and features a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor and 146-degree wide-angle lens.
The RE is a small handheld camera that features a built-in grip sensor, which instantly activates the camera upon pick-up. It comes equipped with a high-resolution 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, full-HD video recording, a 146 degree wide angle lens and slow motion and time lapse recording functions.
There are two buttons on the RE, a shutter button on the outside, which can press once to take a picture and long-press for a couple seconds to take video, and a slow-motion capture toggle that has to hold down to activate before starting the video, according to HTC.
Besides, HTC wants the device to be always-on, and thus, always ready and waiting for users to use it so there's no power button.
When talking about connections, the RE uses Bluetooth LE to initially pair with smartphones, and the rest of the process is facilitated by WiFi like transferring files, the remote shutter and everything else.
“I will bring my RE to many places, capturing everything, there's no any other product that allows users to take pictures without losing too much time for operating the camera.” said Cher Wang, Founder of HTC, which means that users have no need to focus on the screen whenever taking pictures.
However, it is said that HTC will cooperate with the search engine giant Google 8.9-inch Nexus tablet computer, Cher Wang withheld comment on it.
