TAIPEI, Taiwan - Acer announced today that the company have collaborated with Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the development of a flu forecast platform based on AI. Through the use of AI and big data analytics, Acer and Taiwan’s CDC are capable of predicting the pattern and potential spread of influenza over the next four weeks.
Acer pointed that this forecast platform will serve as an additional source of information for local health bureaus and medical institutions to support their decision making in the allocation of medical resources in the likelihood of flu epidemics, as well as for the general public to take extra measures to avoid or protect oneself from areas of flu outbreak.
The flu forecast platform applies machine learning on data from the CDC’s flu-like surveillance system and the national health insurance, together with government information on weather and regional populations, to establish a prediction model.
In addition, this flu forecast platform is the latest addition to Acer’s continuous investments in artificial intelligence, which includes smart healthcare, transportation, retail, and finance.
