TAIPEI, Taiwan — Entry-level to mid-tier handsets have become mainstream, touch panel firm JTOUCH Corporation developed Metal Mesh to penetrate the market. Ye Yu-zhou, Chairper at JTOUCH stated out that the Metal Mesh from mask to material are developed by themselves so that can reduce the cost a lot.
Metal Mesh will be put in mass production in Q4, and has already become part of supply chain of smartphone brands in Taiwan, Japan, and China.
Ye Yu-zhou said that Metal Mesh touch panel sensors can be applied from 3-inch to 24-inch, which means smartphone, tablet, and big-screen AIO are potential customers of Metal Mesh.
The production of Metal Mesh uses Copper Foil that is a mature way in semiconductor production process because the sensitivity of Copper Foil is better than ITO (Indium Tin Oxide), cost is cheaper, as well.
Ye Yu-zhou further explained that the defect-free rate between Metal Mesh and ITO are almost the same. Moreover, Metal Mesh is flexible and shatterproof that is suitable in manufacturing consumer electronics.
