TAIPEI, Taiwan — Paul Peng, General Manger of AU Optronics made a keynote speech at Touch Taiwan under the topic: Trends & Changes in Display Industry. He who is not only unfolding the devices used for decades being replaced by clear examples, but also pointed out that market changing from replacement-driven to application-oriented innovation.
Paul Peng said that from the vinyl player to cassette and CD player to ipad, then nowadays most of the people listen to music on smartphones, which is a clear demonstration of devices used for decades being replaced gradually.
Paul Peng stated that the Internet and Cloud help users communicate with the world via display at anytime, anywhere, wireless communication making connection instant and diversified.
Many panel makers said that the demand of 4K2K large screens is greater than the supply, Paul Peng considered that more sources and channels of high picture quality 4K content is one of the reason of this phenomena.
However, Paul Peng yet suggested that the blooming of Internet of Things (IoTs) is also a driving force for penal makers, from fitness smart band, telemedicine, online payment to smart house, where wide ranges of panels are being used. IoTs also making cars smarter with more display applications, including HUD, mirror display, cluster, CID, and RSE.
Last but not least, Paul Peng concluded that market changing from replacement-driven to application-oriented innovation. For instance, the traditional TV was replacd by LCD or flat screen, feature phones were replaced by smartphones. But in the future, werables, curved TV, 2 in 1 PC, and PID are not going to be replaced that easily because each of them has irreplaceable functions.
