TAIPEI, Taiwan - MediaTek, Inc. on June 5 announced that they would host their “Annual COMPUTEX Media Event,” with themes focusing on 5G and AI, and they also announced that they will release 5G products in 2019.

MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai shared the company’s strategies for 5G and AI and also emphasized their ability to bring about the top experience for users in terms of 5G and AI while bringing these technologies into public life. He also stated that MediaTek has extremely extensive technologies, IP products, and portfolios and that their applications in a variety of products were continually growing.

MediaTek President Joe Chen explained that MediaTek has the most advanced 5G and wide coverage with 4G marketing around the world, in locations which include Europe, North America, and China. In addition, MediaTek also has operators’ certifications and field certifications owing to the different requirements, technologies, and spectrums of different operators.

MediaTek’s 5G is considerably faster than their 4G, and they have invested more deeply in the 3GPP standard formulation; consequently, they have the world’s leading development and processes for 5G.

He also stated that next year preparations for the 5G Helio M70 modem will be complete, and that they have already entered into collaborations with Nokia, Huawei, and NTT DOCOMO, INC. Furthermore, in June of this year the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) will launch a 5G modem, and there will be additional M70 related products and news in the second half of the year.

MediaTek believes that user experience comes from low power, camera technology, and AI. In terms of low power, from multi-core CPU, to four-core and eight-core GPU, the CorePilot technology developed by MediaTek has enabled performance and consumption to reach maximum efficiency.
